Delete An Article In Joomla!
You can delete an article(s) in Joomla! just like you delete files and folders on your computer or device normally. It only requires a few simple steps and you can easily and quickly delete the items you want in your Joomla!.
See the steps given below to delete item(s) in Joomla!:
- Login to your Joomla! Administrator back-end
- Go to Content and select Articles on the toolbar menu
- Check the box next to the article(s) that you want to delete.
- Click the Trash button
If you want to make sure that the article(s) which you have trashed are deleted permanently and cannot be restored, do the following:
- In the Article Manager, click the Search Tools button next to the search box. This will cause several selector menus to appear.
- Click the Select Status option and select Trashed.
- Now, select the article(s) you want to permanently delete and click the Empty Trash button.
This will permanently delete all the selected article(s) from your Joomla! and will not be restored whatsoever.
However, please note that you must be very careful when deleting an item from your Joomla! CMS to avoid any accidental deletion of items which might be important to you.
Manage and Restore Deleted Items In Joomla!
Managing deleted items is also possible in Joomla!. This means that if you deleted an item in Joomla! and later want to restore that item, you can easily do so provided the item has not been permanently removed from your Joomla! CMS.
When you permanently remove an item from your Joomla! CMS, it becomes quite impossible to restore that particular item. However, if you simply move the item(s) into the Trash, there are still chances that you can easily restore your data items or files and be able to access them at a later time.
The trash component in Joomla! is the recycle bin that lets you move and restore deleted item(s). Content such as articles, menus or any other items which can be deleted in Joomla! have an attribute which is called Status. The Status attribute in Joomla! basically refers to the properties of the items you have in Joomla! which displays the current status of the items.
Thus, you will see status like Published, Unpublished and Trashed in your Joomla! for article(s) or other file items which you already have. Here, the trashed status simply denotes the current properties of the particular article(s) which have been moved to the recycle bin or trash in your Joomla! CMS. Also, when you restore the item from the trash to your desired location, the status of the article(s) or item also changes.
